S'pore beats Moscow to host 2010 Youth Olympics games
There were months of waiting and preparations, but it paid off in the end as Singapore has trumped Moscow to win the bid to host the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010.
The International Olympic Committee announced this to the world from its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The two cities had been the only shortlisted contenders for the youth event, from an initial field of 11 bidders.
The Youth Games will have around 3,200 athletes, aged 14 to 18, competing in 26 sports.
